Inspections
General pest inspection
General pest inspections are a thorough visual inspection of the interior, exterior and surrounding grounds of your home, with findings given in person and in writing. The goal is to identify active pest activity, locate structural weaknesses and flag environmental factors that attract pests.
What we check
Interior assessment
Inspections include checking every room focusing on high-risk, dark or moist zones:
- Kitchen & bathrooms: Checking behind appliances, beneath sinks, and inside pantry shelves for signs of pest activity
- Plumbing & walls: Inspecting exposed pipes, cabinets, and baseboards for leaks, dampness, and insect trails
- Attics & roof voids: Checking accessible ceiling spaces and roof cavities for rodent activity or damp conditions
Exterior & garden
Pests often enter from outside and we focus on special areas of concern:
- Perimeter & foundation: Looking for gaps in brickwork, unsealed utility entry points and cracks
- Subfloor areas: Checking crawl spaces, footings, and stumps for drainage issues and signs of pest habitation
- Yards & gardens: Assessing outdoor bins, composts, retaining walls, stored firewood and overgrown vegetation or branches in contact with the roof
Get your home ready
Before we arrive
What we do on the day
- We identify the pest and photograph it.
- If you want treatment, we can quote it and book it before we leave.
- If we see anything that looks like termites, we stop, photograph it and leave it alone.
Common questions
What if I'm not sure what the pest is?
That's what this visit is for. If you can, take a few clear photos from different angles, with a coin or ruler beside the pest for size, and note where you saw it. Please don't touch it, and don't get close to a live spider for the photo.
Does a general inspection include termites?
No. A general inspection isn't a termite inspection. Termites need their own visit, so see the termite inspection guide for what that involves.
What happens next
Booking an inspection
A general inspection is $154. You are not charged if we treat that day. It tells you what is active, where it is getting in, and what it will take to stop it.
